Pastoral Support Programme

We have developed an incredible programme of Pastoral Support for our learners, with a dedicated Progress Coach to support their time at college.

The progress coach is responsible for a full range of personal and group tutorials throughout the term, as well as supporting with UCAS applications, personal statements and CV’s and any issues which arise throughout the course of the academic year.

“My role at Myerscough is Inclusive Learning Advisor and Progress Coach. I offer additional support to students who may require any extra help and may be struggling with any academic work.

This varies from offering support with structure of assignments, making notes of class work and any other support students may need.

The other part of the job as Progress Coach is monitoring all of the students throughout all of their time at college. I deliver classes each week about different topics and personal tutorials with students. In addition I help students decide on careers and progression after the course. The role is very rewarding and it is always good seeing the students hand in good standards of work and go onto substantial careers in different areas after the course.

A typical day for me at Myerscough would be to split into 3 periods of the day where I would make notes of classes and help students with any work they may struggle with. I could run an assignment workshop for students where we go through assignments which they have and help them write this. Another part of my day could be delivering a course tutorial on different topics ranging from the British Values to Career plans. This is something which is always good fun and great to be a part of.
